Mansfield Compressor Station

The Mansfield Compressor Station was designed to gather low-pressure wellhead gas from area producers, and compress and dehydrate the gas for redelivery into take-away transmission pipelines.

The System is rated for nominal gas capacity of 100 MMcfd.

With the System’s location in the city limits of Mansfield, it was required that safety, noise and aesthetics be fully integrated into the design and construction of the assets. Texas Energy Midstream holds the only “Special Use” permit granted in the city limits of Mansfield, TX.

The entire System is new infrastructure that has been installed since September 2008 and includes the following:

  • Low-pressure wellhead gas gathering:
    • 2,500 feet of 12-inch steel pipe in service
    • 11,500 feet of 10-inch steel pipe
    • Operates at approximately 175 psi
    • 1,440 psi maximum allowable operating pressure design
  • High-pressure gas transmission system:
    • 9,200 feet of 10-inch steel pipe
    • Currently operating at approximately 700 psi
    • 1,100 psi maximum allowable operating pressure design
    • Connected to Energy Transfer’s 20-inch high-pressure Old Ocean transmission line
  • Compressor station:
    • 50 MMcfd maximum capacity of installed compression and dehydration (System designed for expansion to 100 MMcfd)
    • Two Caterpillar 3606 gas-engine compressors with a total of 3,600 HP
    • Dehydration unit is a 40 MMcfd Exterran with two pump pneumatic setup
    • Currently operating at approximately 700 psi with 1,440 psi maximum allowable operating pressure design
    • The ONLY permitted compressor station in the city of Mansfield
  • Compressor station safety features include:
    • Fire and gas detection systems throughout the building
    • All metal and/or fire-resistant materials used in construction
    • Computer controlled, automatic emergency shut-down valves at each compressor, as well as at the entrance and tailgate of the compressor station
